Sample preparation services are provided for different type of samples and different type of analysis.
The samples preparation department is designed to produce a representative and homogenous sub-sample. All packages including sample submission, sample storage and preparation are done with maximum care and responsibility within dedicated premises located in Addis Ababa, complying all confidentiality and security required in this field.
Procedures of sample preparation at EMPBC laboratory for analytical purposes include:
1. Drying – If the samples are excessively wet, pour the samples into a porcelain or glass dish or beaker and dry at 600 -800c for overnight in an oven.
2. Crushing – Jaw crusher of size 1-2mm is used to reduce the size of the sample prior to pulverization.
3. Splitting – If the samples require splitting, riffle splitter is used until the required sample amount is obtained (mostly 250gm).
4. Pulverizing – Pulverizing the split sample or total samples up to 250 gm to achieve up to 250–micron (mesh size) grain size with cobalt or iron grinding disc. Then Packing (100 – 200gm).
